Warwick Valley Farm Aid (This Week's Shares - September 8, 2011)

As you know, when joining a CSA you reap the benefits of a healthy harvest but you also feel the hardship of a storm. Rogowski Farm/Breezy Hill Orchard and the entire Warwick Valley has been severely hit by hurricane Irene. The fields have not been dry since and now the fields and roads are flooded again from the this week's rain.

For those interested in donating money to help the farmers, the area has created a fundraiser called Warwick Farm Aid. The event will take place on Sept. 25, 2011 from 1 to 9PM at Warwick Valley High School, with the goal to raise $25,000 to provide immediate relief to local farmers in need. All proceeds will go directly to local farmers. Radio station WTBQ (1110AM and 93.5PM) will broadcast the concert live.

You can donate directly online at http://www.warwickfarmaid.com/.

They will also be making tee shirts and I will try to get a bunch if anyone is interested in purchasing one.
