So after much premature hysteria we were spared from the wrath of hurricane Joaquin. We nevertheless received about 3 ½ inches of rain from 3 days of drizzle and occasional showers. This will be beneficial to most of the crops especially the brassicas and the root vegetables, but as previously mentioned will speed the demise of the tomatoes. Eggplant production has slowed down greatly and will likely only be part of the shares as an extra going forward. Beans are on hiatus for the moment but the plants are beginning to flower again and if it stays warm for a couple of weeks they should make a comeback. We have been sending summer squash to some groups over the last 2 weeks and we believe we will have enough this week for those who have not received any recently. We will begin the winter squash deliveries this week with spaghetti squash. Broccoli is still coming in steadily as well as white and Romanesco cauliflower, so everyone will see one of these. We have lots of greens for you this week; there will be choices among arugula, broccoli raab, kale and tatsoi. We are also doubling up on the root vegetables this week with beets and radishes. We will have carrots next week and some spinach in 2 weeks.
